Fertilizer in the Spring
Fertilizers provide essential nutrients to your lawn to help them grow.
Introduction
By definition, Spring begins when the Sun crosses the celestial equator moving northward. In actuality, you will probably know spring is here when the snow around you has melted and when your grass starts to turn green — an early reminder that it is the time to put spring fertilizer down.
Spring Fertilizer
During the Spring season, your grass will undergo the largest amount of growth. To help ensure that your lawn is healthy and attractive by summer time, we encourage adding a special mix of fertilizer for your lawn.
Fertilizer is essentially food for your grass, and there are typically three main nutrients that your lawn requires that fertilizer can help provide:
Nitrogen
Phosphorus
Potassium
While we typically fertilize multiple times per year, we use a specific ratio of these nutrients in our fertilizer that are optimized for the spring season. The nitrogen helps to ensure your lawn maintains a darker green complexion and a higher density. Potassium helps your grass withstand drier conditions and improves the general strength of the plant. And lastly, the phosphorous helps your grass develop a stronger root system.
